This pattern comes to us this year from the exploits of Lance Egan fishing down under. At first glance it’s a pretty good looking fly. As I started tying these, I began to fall in love. I love a tag pattern, and this one sports a bright orange one, simple but effective. The dubbing give it that little spikey buggy feel that traps the times tiny reflective air bubbles that make trout notice it. Just in case, a copper rib for flash and a CDC collar for movement and even more bubbles will get it noticed. Top it off with a peacock ice collar and a pink bead (which has really proven its effectiveness) and I think this will rival the Red Dart as a confidence fly. When hit with the UV light, it catches fire. It’s a sparse simple tie and that usually means an effective pattern. I encourage you to try it out in your Euro box.
