The body quill Perdigon were some of the first ones I tied and fished as a new Euro guy. These patterns have always been pretty much a staple fly in the box in multiple sizes. Mix and match colors and sizes until you find what they are dialed in on and you can fish this patterns in tandem along with another Perdigon or a Euro patterns all day. Back in 1980 something, I remember talking with a fella streamside in Pennsylvania. The advice was simple; no matter what the pattern always keep it black, brown, tan and olive. A big one, a medium one and a small one. That’s a dozen and that will get you through the day. That advice still holds for me whether it’s Pats, buggers or Perdigons, those color and size variables will always turn a nose.
