Stimulators are my go to fly when I’m fishing a dry dropper combo. Randy Kauffman is credited with this pattern, and it’s one of my all time favorites. They have a great silhouette in the water, float like a cork and can imitate everything from a stonefly to a terrestrial- so they are an excellent from spring into winter.
I tie these with standard deer hair wings, but happy to use bleached wing hair for a higher visibility fly. Just leave a note in your with your order.
I like that they are visible at a distance and it’s a fly with varied seasons, so it will produce well throughout the year. I’ve selected some colors that I have had success with however these flies could be effective in many different colors. If you are looking for a custom fly, drop me a line and I’m confident I can meet your needs with this pattern.
